Needed High School Courses

        In order to become a meteorologist you need to complete the following high school courses: English, algebra, calculus, biology, physical sciences, geography,computer skills, earth and environmetnal sciences, and chemistry.

Future Steps

       Once you graduate high school college is mandatory on the road to becoming a meteorologist. You have to achieve a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in meteorology or atmospheric science. You could also continue on to get a Masters Degree in one of the subjects mentioned above. The road to becoming a meteorologist may have many obstacles, but if you have perseverance and commitment through your education you will succeed. After college you will need to find a job in this field. Make sure you find a job where you can fullfill all expectations.

Volunteer Experiences/Extracurriculars

        In order to have more experience in meteorology you may need to volunteer. Some volunteer activities are: picking up a community after a weather disaster, cleaning up recreation areas, teaching storm spotter training courses, and raising money to provide people with weather radios. 
        On top of volunteering, being involved in extracurricular activities will also help you advance in meteorology. Some activities include: weather, computer science, and science clubs.
